Steve Geller is a veteran in law enforcement with proven integrity and 33 years of experience. He has held various leadership roles and received commendations for saving lives and helping bring new innovative public safety programs to protect our community.

Geller's Experience

In various roles for the Plantation Police Department and the FDLE, Steve’s background includes:

​

  • ROAD PATROL OFFICER: He began his career as a road patrol officer with the Plantation Police Department in 1991. He then rose through the ranks to become a Captain in 2015. Steve received numerous awards throughout his career, including the Life Saving Award for his heroism.
     

  • SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER: Served as SRO at South Plantation High School until 1997. His work also included helping oversee programs after the MSD tragedy to prepare for active shooters at Broward schools.
     

  • INTERNAL AFFAIRS: Served as the Internal Affairs Sergeant, where he worked to uphold the highest standards for the department and combat any potential police corruption.
     

  • CRISIS RESPONSE TEAM: Was on a unit that responded to barricaded individuals and hostage crises. Based on his experiences, he helped craft a local crisis management training program which was adopted by multiple law enforcement agencies within the county.
     

  • CRISIS RESPONSE TEAM ADMINISTRATOR: Oversaw various mental health programs throughout the agency. He helped create a new program to aide officers who witnessed traumatic events.
     

  • STATE LAW ENFORCEMENT: Worked for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement as a special agent, where he investigated complex cases involving public corruption, officer-involved shootings, fraud, and elderly exploitation.
